Why convert an SVG to PNG?

An SVG is a description of shapes; a PNG is a grid of pixels. Some places still only take the grid.

Every site accepts an image

Marketplaces, shop listings, social posts, contact forms and older email clients often refuse an SVG file. A PNG uploads everywhere and looks the same on every device.

Exactly the size you ask for

Choose the pixel width and the export is rendered at that size. No oversized artwork to scale by hand, and no guessing what a page builder will do with your logo.

Safe to send to anyone

A PNG cannot carry scripts and cannot point at outside fonts, so it is the format to hand over when someone simply needs to look at the picture.

How it works

Three steps, no account and nothing to install.

  1. Add your SVG

Drag the file onto the box, click it to browse, or paste straight from the clipboard with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). Files up to 25 MB are fine.

  2. Pick a size and a format

Leave the width empty to keep the size the artwork was drawn at, or type a pixel width such as 1200 for a blog header. PNG keeps transparency, JPG gives the smallest file for photographic detail, and WebP is the lightest option for the web.

  3. Download the image

The preview shows what you will get, with the pixel dimensions and the file weight next to it. One click saves the image, ready for wherever it has to go.

Three tips before you convert

A couple of choices decide whether the export comes out sharp or soft.

Print needs more pixels than a screen

A screen is happy with roughly one pixel per CSS pixel, so 800–1600 px wide covers most pages. Paper is measured in dots per inch: a logo 10 cm wide printed at 300 dpi wants about 1200 px. If you need both, convert once for the page and once more for the printer — a small screen export will look soft in print.

Keep transparency with PNG

Transparent areas in the artwork stay transparent in a PNG, which is what you want for a logo dropped onto a coloured page. JPG cannot store transparency, so it has to be filled with a background colour — white when in doubt, or stay on PNG.

Choose JPG for photographic detail

An artwork that embeds a photo, a texture or a soft gradient turns into a heavy PNG. JPG compresses that kind of detail far better and is usually a fraction of the size. For flat logos, sharp edges and gradients, PNG or WebP stays crisper.

Frequently asked questions

Is this converter free?

Yes. Converting is free and unlimited in practice: there is no account, no trial, no credit card and no watermark on the image you download. Only a short rate limit applies so one visitor cannot occupy the server for everyone else.

What is the largest image I can get?

The output can be up to 8000 px on its longest side, which is enough for a full-width banner, a poster at 300 dpi or a large icon set. Leave the width field empty to keep the size the SVG was drawn at, or type a smaller number when you only need a thumbnail.

Does transparency survive the conversion?

With PNG and WebP, yes — empty areas in the artwork stay empty in the export. JPG has no transparency at all, so those areas are filled with the background colour you pick (white or black). Choose PNG whenever the image will sit on a coloured or unknown background.

What happens to text and fonts inside an SVG?

Text is rendered with the fonts available on the server, so an unusual font would be replaced by a similar one. If a font is missing, convert text to outlines first — most editors have a "convert to outlines" or "flatten text" command — and upload the outlined version. The shapes then come out exactly as drawn, in any font.

What happens to my files?

Files are processed on our server and not stored. The upload is converted in memory and only the resulting image is sent back to your browser, so nothing is kept afterwards and no account is tied to the conversion.
