Privacy Policy
What happens to your images and data — in plain language.
Effective date: 8 November 2026
The short version
Convertars is free and needs no account. To improve the converter, it keeps each upload, the SVG it produced and a few technical details about the request for up to 30 days, and then deletes them automatically. Nothing is sold, nothing is shared with third parties and nothing is used for advertising. There are no tracking cookies and no analytics scripts.
This applies to conversions into SVG (the image-to-vector converter). The other tools (format conversion, compression, PDF, EPS, AI, DXF and icon tools) process your file and send the result straight back without keeping the file or the result. For those, only a log line is kept for up to 30 days: which tool was used, the file size, whether it worked, how long it took, and the same request details listed below.
What is kept
- The image you upload and the SVG you get back. Both are stored on the server so a conversion can be re-run and compared when something goes wrong.
- Conversion details: your IP address, an approximate country derived from that IP address, your browser, operating system and device type, your browser language, the page you came from, the file name, size and pixel dimensions, the settings you chose, whether it worked and how long it took.
- Simple usage events: when the post-download support dialog opens, when the Ko-fi button is clicked and when a crypto address is copied. These are ordinary counters, not profiles.
- The image itself is not analysed for faces, text or content. Geometry and colour statistics are what the tracer reads.
Why it is kept
- To improve conversion quality — seeing which images trace badly shows what to fix.
- To reproduce and repair errors reported by visitors.
- To stop abuse, such as automated floods or attempts to overload the API.
- To understand roughly how the tool is used, so effort goes where it helps.
How long it is kept
Uploads, results and their log entries are deleted automatically once they are older than 30 days; a cleanup runs every few hours, so in practice a record lives between 30 and 31 days. If the storage area would otherwise grow too large, the oldest days are dropped sooner. Nothing is kept after that.
Who can see it
Only the site owner. The stored files and logs are not public, are not served by the website, are not linked from any page and are not handed to advertisers, data brokers or any other company. They are never sold, rented or shared.
Cookies and ads
Convertars sets no tracking or advertising cookies, runs no analytics service and embeds no social pixels, so you are not followed across other websites. Your browser's own storage may hold interface preferences, but that data stays on your device. The rate limiter keeps a short-lived counter in memory, keyed by IP address, so one client cannot consume the whole server; it expires on its own and is shared with nobody.
Third parties
There are only two, both related to donations and both optional. Card and PayPal donations are handled by Ko-fi: once its page or embed is loaded you are on Ko-fi's terms, and its own privacy policy and cookie rules apply. Convertars never sees your payment details.
Crypto donations are wallet-to-wallet transfers, which are public by design: amount, addresses and time are visible to anyone reading that blockchain. Only a receiving address is published here; no private key, seed phrase or wallet password is ever requested, and anyone asking for one is not us.
Asking for deletion
If you would like an upload removed before the 30 days are up, get in touch: send a message through the Ko-fi page linked from the donate page or send a direct message to @convertars on X. Include the approximate time of the upload (date and hour are enough) and the file name, so the right record can be found; that is all that is needed to identify it. The matching upload, result and log entries are then deleted.
Children
Convertars is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children. There are no accounts, no profiles and no advertising, so nothing beyond the technical records described above is collected from any visitor.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles data changes again, this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will move accordingly. The date is generated when the site is built, so it always matches the version you are reading.
