About Convertars
A small, free, ad-free tool for turning images into vectors.
What Convertars is
Convertars is a small, ad-free online tool that turns raster images into SVG. Drop in a PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or BMP file, choose a mode, and you get vector paths back in a few seconds — sharp at any size, editable in any vector editor, and free of watermarks or hidden metadata.
There is no account, no gallery and no dashboard, because there is nothing to manage. The site does one job: it converts the image in front of you and hands back a file. If it disappeared tomorrow, you would lose nothing but a bookmark.
The five modes
The same picture can be redrawn in very different ways, so the converter offers one mode per kind of artwork. Picking the right one is usually worth more than any slider.
- Logo / Icon — flat marks, badges and lettering with a handful of solid colors. Edges are smoothed and the palette is detected for you, so the result looks drawn rather than traced.
- Illustration — stickers, posters and flat art with more shades. Same clean edges, a wider palette and a little more detail.
- Photo — photographs, redrawn as a limited palette of flat shapes. The result is posterized on purpose: graphic art, not a copy of the picture.
- Black & White — scans, stamps, signatures and line art. A threshold decides what counts as ink, and everything else stays empty.
- Pixel art — sprites and 8-bit graphics keep hard 90° steps instead of being rounded into curves.
Every mode shares the same controls: colors, detail, smoothness, upscale, noise reduction and an optional transparent background. The preview updates as you change them, so it is quick to see what each one does to your own image.
Why it is free
Convertars is a spare-time project. The heavy work runs on a modest server, the pages are static HTML, and there are no ads, trackers or analytics scripts to pay for. What is left is cheap enough that donations cover it — so the tool stays free for everyone, including people who never donate.
Being free also means being honest about limits: this is a tracer, not a magic wand. Logos, icons, line art and flat illustrations come out beautifully. Photographs come out stylized, and no settings will change that.

Support the project
If Convertars saved you an hour of tracing, you can tip the project. Donations pay for hosting and keep the site ad-free; they are never required, and nothing is unlocked by paying. A card, PayPal or one of a few cryptocurrencies all work — the donate page has the details.
Questions, bug reports or a format you would like to see? The Ko-fi page linked from the donate page has a message box that reaches me directly. For how your images are handled, see the privacy policy.
Follow and contact
New tools and new formats are announced on X first, so @convertars on X is the easiest place to hear about them. It is also the quickest way to reach me: reply or send a direct message if something did not convert right, or if a format you need is still missing.
